EGYPT Nathan Bassaly requests that we keep the nation of Egypt in much prayer during this critical time in its history. Parliamentary elections are been held with the Islamist parties winning the majority of votes. The Presidential election is due mid-2012. Nathan says that whatever happens in Egypt will affect the whole M. East region. Pray for Egypt, also for the protection of believers, for the churches. Pray too that during this time of political and economic uncertainty, the Gospel of Jesus Christ will be declared boldly and courageously in the land.
Remember also in prayer the nations (& people) of Syria, Yemen, Libya and Iran as they too are facing huge social, economical, political & religious issues.
INDONESIA Robert & Eliana Mambu write: "Please pray for our ministry to one Junior High School in Solo with our Bible Correspondence Course. Just recently there were more than 300 students who had been ministered with the Gospel, mostly for the first time received Jesus as their Saviour. Among them there are 34 from other religious backgrounds. Pray for the follow up. Pray also for Topan and his family who just recently received Christ and formerly stayed near our office. I told him about the Gospel about ten years ago, but he did not respond at that time. Praise the Lord, now they are willing to receive Christ. Pray for their spiritual growth.”
MALAWI Rodney & Juliet Munkhondya ask for prayer for the nation of Malawi. They write: "One of Malawi’s present challenges is petrol and diesel shortage, this is affecting prices of the basic commodity of every Malawian. Kindly pray that the Lord may heal of our Land. Pray for me also that I may follow the will & leading of God as to which village(s) I should get involved in equipping the leaders, as I conduct leadership seminars in 2012. Also please keep praying for our family we are settle here in Malawi.”
KAIROS COURSES More 4th Edition Kairos Courses will be held this month in different nations. Please uphold the 1st Kairos Course to be run in Nigeria Feb 7-11. Between 60-70 key leaders are expected! Pray that these leaders can then be conduits for the Kairos course to spread rapidly in Nigeria and be a great impetus to the World Christian Movement there. Please keep in prayer Linda Harding and Chris Brittain who will be the main facilitators of the course.
CENTRAL ASIA Jo & Jenny Graham request prayer for the Shulam work in Central Asia saying, "progress is painfully slow; most of the few "converts” are in the grip of destructive habits – drugs and homosexuality for a start. Pray for a breakthrough for them as well as some new doors for the Gospel, for major advance in 2012.”
MOZAMBIQUE Graeme & Lucy Fawcett ask, "please pray for the Koti teams that are working among the unreached Mwani in the north of the country. They are seeing slow but steady progress, 2 more Mwani believers have recently been baptized. Pray for many more disciples this year and for the church to take root there. And at the same time, pray for the Koti churches that have sent these teams out, to maintain (and increase) their momentum of growth.”
The Fawcetts also ask prayer for several quality young couples they are working with and who are preparing to go to the nations in the very near future. Pray for effective preparation – and for many more young people to respond to the call to make disciples of LRPs.
IN NEED OF PRAYER The family of Jane Torrey (who with her late husband Archer, found the Jesus Abbey ministry in Korea), request prayer for Jane who is back in the States and has terminal cancer. Please pray for Ps Deon (Associate pastor from Lighthouse Church in Cape Town) and family as they mourn the loss of Deon’s wife Philemane, who along with another team member was killed in a vehicle accident when on a mission trip in Mozambique. Deon and daughter Elri were both injured in the same accident and are recovering back in Cape Town. The Lighthouse Church (Ps Peter Snyman – senior pastor) have been ministry partners with Graeme & Lucy Fawcett and the work among the Koti in Mozambique for some years. Please uphold Mesfin Abebe in prayer, a WOI missionary to Ethiopia, who has had to return to Australia for medical attention after falling ill while ministering in Ethiopia. Pray too for Linda Bayliss’s and her 3 sisters and brother and their respective spouses & family members (& Linda’s Dad) as they come to terms with the loss of Linda’s mother. Pray also for Malcolm Bayliss’s dad who recently suffered a stroke and is now hospitalized. Frank, a WO prayer partner has written asking for prayer. "I have what is called cholinergic urticaria (hives) and mine are chronic. I have been plagued with the hive since May last year and they never spot itching; I am covered with hives and the itching is unbearable. The doctors do not have any answers. Will you join with me in asking Jesus to touch and bring heal my body.”
WOI 80th CELEBRATIONS Plans are coming together nicely for the April 01 – 05 celebration in Sth Africa and the July 09 – 13 celebration in Thailand. A number of folk planning to attend the Africa event need the Lord to help with their travel costs, so please pray along with them.
DISCIPLESHIP As a result of ‘spiritual breakthroughs’ during 2011 where literally thousands of new believers are now following the Lord in different nations where WOI church planting teams are operating, raising up true disciples of Jesus Christ from among these converts is the long term goal. Please pray specifically for these discipleship making ministries in Indonesia, Indo-China, Thailand and Nth India, that their hunger for God, for His Word, His presence – will grow; that the Holy Spirit will keep & protect them; that they will be bold & courageous in sharing their faith; and that many more spiritually mature workers will be added to the respective teams so as to spread the responsibility.
